It’s time to go over my budget again. August was a so-so month. Most of my time was spent getting the little one ready for school and working (blahh), but I still got to have a little fun and do some things to enjoy the last few days of summer. In August we visited the zoo, attended a festival and enjoyed a movie in the park.
It’s already getting chilly around here, but I think we may get one more heat wave because it’s supposed to be in the 90s this week. August was an interesting month financially and I received my fair share of ups and downs.

I’m sorry about the car. Usually one has it paid off for a few years before major repairs become a thing you have to deal with. 🙁 Hope you get your bonus soon! That’s a nice chunk of change! The weather is FINALLY cooling off here a bit. I’ll take some overcast right now!

They don’t make cars like they used to anymore unfortunately. Plus I drive like 3x what a normal person does. It’s looking like maybe October for my bonus but it’ll be okay. I’ve learned not to put all my eggs into one basket because that will almost always lead to a let down.

You do a great job tracking your expenses and budgeting! I’ve been inspired to start considering doing the same thing. It’s still overwhelming to think about.

Thanks Shirria! I would start off very slow with tracking your spending for a bit first to see where your money is going each month then I’d start creating rough categories for expenses and cutting what you can. It definitely takes some getting used to when you first start.

I love how organized you are with your budget! And sorry to hear about the car!

It was definitely not a good day after I heard about my car but I’m so happy I had my emergency fund to fall back on.

Car repairs can be so annoying! They’re usually expensive but it’s something you have to take care of no matter what. But you did a great job putting money towards your debt! You will have that loan paid off in no time, so that’s really exciting. 🙂

You have a great budget. It seems like you have a really good grip on everything. I hate car expenses. I’m getting ready to buy 2 new tires and do a tune up and am already cringing at what the cost will be, ughh.

My August had a few red categories too… There is so much I need to work on, but there is no point beating myself up about it. Hopefully September will bring less red categories for the both of us! 🙂
